Here is a small selection from a senior portrait session with Brian S of Upper Dublin High School who is a top student, a stand out swimmer, and environmentalist. I have been a full time photographer for over 22 years at this point. I spent 16 years as a full time photojournalist with the Pottstown Mercury, 1992 to 2008, and prior to that three years with my hometown weekly The Today’s Spirit in Hatboro. As a photojournalist I experienced just about every situation a photographer could possibly encounter. From features to sports to portraits to breaking news events I was charged with always coming back with “the” photo. The fast pace and unknowns encountered capturing great pictures in the community have prepared me well to capture your special day. My long career as a photojournalist has given me a unique insight and perspective on how to capture and tell the story of your most important day.

This past Saturday I covered a wonderful wedding of two really great people, Hillary Creveling to Eric Miller. Eric and Hillary were guests at a couple weddings I photographed and it is always an honor when a couple chooses me after seeing me at work and the finished wedding albums after. Spent the afternoon with some photography friends at the Hay Creek Watershed and instead of focusing on nature photos I decided to turn the camera on the photographers and do some nice portraits. The slide show below shows the portraits taken and a few extra photos too.

Great people. That is the impression I was left with after photographing the wonderful wedding and reception of Dave and Blair Walsh. Dave is the owner of the Brickhouse Restaurant in Pottstown and the reception was held there following the service at St Columbkill Church in Boyertown.

I recently learned that the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association awarded me a first place in Division IV of their annual Keystone Press Awards in the Photo Story category. I also won a second place for Photo Story from the Associated Press Managing Editors. The awards were for photos of a devastating fire that destroyed a home on High Street and the rescues of residents by firefighters while I was a staff photographer at The Mercury in Pottstown. The paper laid me off in December of 2008. Interestingly enough I won the majority of photo awards for the paper last year and I didn’t even know I was being entered in the contests!
